I have a Lenovo W510, running Windows 10 Pro (64-bit). I just acquired a new WD 259D 2TB external drive, and when I plugged it in all seemed well, but it doesn’t show up in File Manager, so I can’t transfer any data to (or from) it. It shows in Device Manager, and this claims that it is working properly, but that just isn’t the case.
I have a similar problem with an older Maxtor One-Touch 640GB drive, but I wasn’t as concerned with it, as I generally use it on my old Dell 9400, which runs XP.
Nevertheless, it seems to me that both these drives ought to be fully functional on the W510.
