Most of our scripts required a Facebook application id and a Secret key. So we added this post to show you how to do it.
In order to get an App ID and Secret Key from Facebook, you’ll need to register a new application. You can get this done with few very easy steps and your application doesn’t need to do anything. We only need the keys.
There are 4 simple steps to creating a Facebook App, which we’ve outlined below.
Step 01: To start with, navigate your browser to the Facebook Developers page. You’ll be asked to login to your Facebook account.
Once logged in, you’ll see a screen similar to this:
Once the pop-up window open choose Website as Your App’s Platform
Step 03: After you choose your platform, you are presented with the following screen. In the top right of this screen, click “Skip and Create App ID”.
Clicking the “Skip and Create App ID” button will bring up the following screen. You need to fill out Display Name and Select a Category. You can ignore the Namespace field as this is not necessary for our purposes.
Step 04: After you fill out the requested fields, click the blue Create App ID button in the bottom right corner.
Now click settings and then click “+Add Platform” button. Select website. Then you will get a field name “Site URL”. Fill it up with your website URL. Click “Save Changes” button.
Step 05: Go back to “Dashboard” and copy down App ID. To copy App Secret key click “Show” button and Facebook will ask you to re-enter your password. Ones you enter the password Facebook will display your App Secret key.
